COVID-19: 4 Nutrition tips to stay healthy and positive

With the spread of COVID-19, maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle might seem like a far-fetched idea. The Näak team wants to helpthe athlete community to keep spirits high during this time by providinguseful nutrition and exercise tips for a sustained energy.  If you are finding yourself falling off your diet or confused as to how to prepare for the quarantine, then this blog post is for you.

As much as we all might fancy the idea of a day or two at home, the thought of two weeks straight can be quite overwhelming, especially for adventurers, in terms of its disruption to our daily routines. Many of us are going to be housebound for the next couple of weeks trying to get through the COVID-19 quarantine.

sustained energy - nutritious

Therefore, trips to the grocery stores and elsewhere will likely be limited during this time, or even completely avoided. Although it may be tempting to live off of chips and snack foods during this time, it is still important to consume a nutritious diet to keep a long lasting energy.

1. Eat a varied and healthy diet that is abundant in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Eating a plant based diet that is abundant in fruits, vegetables, and whole grain can go a long way in preserving health. Being properly prepared nutritionallycomes down to having the right items on hand and knowing how to use them.

2. Choose shelf-stable and non- perishable food

So, how should we be shopping for this quarantine? It is a good idea to stock up on your home food inventory to last around two weeks. Choose shelf-stable and non- perishable food items such as canned goods, nut butters, dried pastas, rice, dried beans and legumes.

3. Stock up on frozen fruits and vegetables

Stocking up on frozen fruits and vegetables is a good idea as well; keep in mind that frozen produce can even be more nutritious than fresh ones since frozen vegetables are picked at their peak in terms of freshness and nutrients.

4. Eat healthy and nutritious snacks

As well, buy items that can live outside the fridge such as apples, citrus fruits, onions, and potatoes. Healthy snack items are also essential since staying at home equates to more time for nesting activities. Thankfully, our Näak Ultra Energy™ bars with cricket protein are the perfect pick-me-up snack. Order them now!
